Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in battle for Chelsea star Willian

Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have both had bids for Chelsea star Willian knocked back by the club, according to reports.

Brazilian forward Willian is now in the last 12 months of his contract at Chelsea. While the club could lose him for nothing next summer, they are keen to hold onto him – not least because they are currently serving a 2-window transfer ban so couldn’t sign a replacement.

Chelsea also sold Eden Hazard to Real Madrid last week for £88 million so can’t afford to let another experienced star leave.

Barcelona have a long-standing interest in 31-year-old Willian and tried unsuccessfully to sign him last summer. The Catalan club made three bids for him, the last of £55 million, but Chelsea stood firm and rejected it.

Now Atletico have joined the chase and both have had bids of £35 million rejected, according to Sky Sports News.

Whether either club is preparing make another bid isn’t known. They may not want to pay much more for a player the wrong side of 30 and who they could get for nothing in 12 months’ time.

Chelsea meanwhile are hopeful that Willian will commit his future to the club and sign a new 2-year deal.

Paris St-Germain look to sign Chelsea’s Willian as cover for Neymar

French giants Paris St-Germain have lined up a shock bid for Chelsea forward Willian as cover for injured star Neymar.

Willian, 30, is valued at about £40 million, is a lynchpin of the Chelsea side.

PSG have been moved to act after Neymar limped out of a recent match with a fractured metatarsal, which is expected to keep him out of action for 10 weeks. This would mean he misses the crucial Champions League ties against Liverpool next month.

PSG are thought to have considered making a loan move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, but The Mail report that he turned the opportunity down.

Willian has 18 months left on his current deal and Chelsea policy is to only offer 1-year deals to those over 30.

Chelsea have previously rebuffed interest in William from Barcelona and China. Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has also given no indication he wants to get rid of one of his regular starters, especially with the side chasing Champions League qualification.

Barcelona line up £50 million player-plus-cash deal for Chelsea winger Willian

Barcelona have resurrected their interest in Chelsea winger Willian and have put together a deal worth £50 million that includes Malcom going the other way, according to reports.

The Catalan club tried to sign Willian last summer and had three bids rejected by the Blues. However, manager Luis Enrique is still keen on the 30-year-old Brazilian and has come back to the table with another bid.

Barca signed Malcom from Bordeaux for £38 million last summer after they failed to land Willian, but the 21-year-old has failed to impress at the Camp Nou and they are now willing to offload him as part of the deal.

However, it is not known if Chelsea and manager Maurizio Sarri’s stance on Willian has changed since August. The player has been a regular starter for Chelsea this season, usually as part of a front three. But he is 30 and has less than two years left on his contract, so the offer could be tempting as they may not get so much for him by the time the summer comes round.

Chelsea have already sold Cesc Fabregas to Monaco, and could also lose the highly-rated teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi to Bayern Munich, so Sarri may not want to see another player go – even if it included Malcom coming in in his place.

Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang are also thought to be interested in signing Willian, but the player doesn’t want to move to China. However, it is thought he would be keen on a move to Barca, according to The Mirror.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich set to battle it out for Nabil Fekir signature

Premier League title chasers and German behemoths Bayern Munich are leading the chase to sign Lyon’s Nabil Fekir this summer, with the midfielder pushing for a transfer away from the French side.

Fekir was courted last summer by Liverpool and nearly signed for the Reds before the deal collapsed due to medical concerns. He consoled himself by being part of the France side that lifted the World Cup.

Nevertheless, interest remains high in Fekir. Chelsea are one of the clubs with interest, as Maurizio Sarri looks to bolster his attacking midfield options. There remain rumours that Eden Hazard may leave in the summer, with Real Madrid interested, and there is also talk that Willian could also depart. Fekir would fill the boots of either player, but would also add options for Sarri if they were to stay.

Bayern are also looking for reinforcements, with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben both ageing. The perennial Bundesliga champions have also struggled in the league this season and want to freshen their squad up.

Fekir, 25, is apparently pushing for a move, having told Lyon bosses that he wants to leave in the summer, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

However, he wouldn’t come cheap. Lyon will want top dollar – even if it is known he wants to leave – and bidding clubs won’t get change out of £50 million for him.

Barcelona plot new bid for Chelsea star Willian

Spanish giants Barcelona are planning to make a renewed bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Willian in January, according to reports in Spain.

Barca has three bids rejected by Chelsea for the Brazilian in the summer, including one said to be worth £55 million.

However, it appears they haven’t been put off and have had new talks with Willian’s representatives about a potential deal and a transfer fee Chelsea bosses would accept, La Sexta has reported.

La Sexta’s report also claimed that Brazilian winger Malcom could be used as a makeweight in the deal. The 21-year-old only signed for Barcelona in the summer in a £35.5 million deal from French side Bordeaux but has struggled to make an impact. He has only played 25 minutes in La Liga so far this season.

Chelsea were interested in signing Malcom last summer, so this could be an incentive for them to sell.

However, Willian has been a key figure for Chelsea this season and manager Mauricio Sarri would be reluctant to sell.

Chelsea would also want top dollar. Willian has 18 months left on his current deal, and, having rejected a £55 million offer in the summer you would expect any package – with or without Malcom – to be worth something significantly north of that figure.
