La Liga champions Barcelona are in talks with Paris St-Germain to re-sign Neymar, with Ousmane Dembele possibly heading to France as part of the deal, according to reports.

The Brazilian superstar has been rumoured to be wanting a move back to Spain for some time, having apparently not settled in Paris. Real Madrid were thought to be in pole position to sign him, but their rivals Barcelona appear to have stolen a march on them by opening talks, according to RAC1.

Neymar has been successful on the pitch for PSG in the two seasons since he joined them from Barca for a world record £198 million fee.

It is thought negotiations are at an early stage and any deal is likely to be complex.

Dembele could be a willing part of the deal. He made his name at Borussia Dortmund under current PSG coach Thomas Tuchel and could welcome working with him again. Plus his time in the Catalan capital has not been a roaring success due to injury and a loss of form, and a move could provide a fresh start.

Any deal would be huge and PSG would want to make they money back they spent on Neymar at least. The player still has three years on his deal and, at 27, is at the peak of his career.

Liverpool line up club record bid for Barcelona star in January

Title-chasers Liverpool are plotting an £85 million bid for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele in January, according to reports.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to boost his forward line and sees the 21-year-old France international as the man to do that, a report in The Sun has said.

Dembele endured a frustrating first season at the Camp Nou after his £135 million move from Borussia Dortmund in summer 2017. A serious injury kept him out for months and he struggled to regain his best form after that. But this season has been better, and the forward has scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists so far.

However, there have been issues with discipline. Dembele was dropped from the Barca squad last weekend by boss Ernesto Valverde after missing training due to a “stomach bug”. There have also been issues with the player turning up late to training with France.

But Klopp has a long-standing interest in Dembele, having first publicly declared his interest last May, and he fits the profile of the sort of forward he looks for.

While Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have formed a terrific front 3 for Liverpool, Klopp wants to add more depth to his attacking line. Danny Sturridge has played well when called upon but is prone to injuries and Dominic Solanke is largely untried.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal on alert as Barcelona consider Ousmane Dembele sale

Premier League title chasers Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs who could bid for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele in January if the club decide to sell him.

French star Dembele, rated as one of the best young players in the world, has struggled to settle at Barcelona since his move in 2017, hampered by injuries and a failure to find his best form.

Now, it seems Barca bosses are losing patience with him and will encourage him to find another club in January, according to The Sun

If this is the case, then several Premier League clubs would no doubt be interested. Arsenal have been linked with him in the past, and Dembele had a good partnership with Gunners striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when they were at Borussia Dortmund.

London rivals Chelsea could also be interested – they are known to be looking for a striker and Dembele would complement players such as Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud.

Liverpool could also be another destination – his style of play is similar to Jurgen Klopp’s strike force.

It isn’t known whether Barca would look to sell or send Dembele out on loan. If they sell, they would want to recoup the initial £97 million they paid Dortmund for him less than 2 years ago. That price is within the compass of all three clubs mentioned.
Of course, other European sides would be interested including the usual suspects such as Paris St-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan.

Neymar wants Barcelona return – reports

Brazilian star wants to leave Paris St-Germain and return to his former club Barcelona at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain.

While it has long been reported that Neymar is less than happy with life in Paris and wants to move back to Spain, it had been widely thought that his destination would be Real Madrid. But Mundo Deportivo is reporting that he wants to go back to the Nou Camp as he wants to get out of the shadow of strike partner Kylian Mbappe.

Neymar and Mbappe moved to PSG at roughly the same time, but the Frenchman has had the better time there. Mbappe’s star has risen – including a starring role for France at the World Cup – while Neymar has suffered injuries and criticism for her perceived tendency to dive.

When he moved to PSG in a world record £198 million deal in 2017, Neymar was promised that he would be number one at the side. However, Mbappe’s emergence has meant that this hasn’t happened. Ironically, one of Neymar’s prime reasons for leaving Barca in the first place was said to be to escape the shadow of Lionel Messi.

Surely, if Neymar was to return to the Catalan capital, there is risk that he would find himself in the same position again.

In terms of a transfer fee, it would no doubt take another world record to tempt PSG to part with Neymar. Barcelona can afford it, but it might mean they have to sell one of their existing stars – Ousmane Dembele springs to mind – to avoid falling foul of Financial Fair Play regulations.

Barcelona to offer Chelsea Ousmane Dembele in any deal to sign Eden Hazard

La Liga champions are reportedly willing to offer striker Ousmane Dembele to Chelsea as part of a deal to take Eden Hazard to the Camp Nou.

Hazard has given hints that he is seeking to bring his 6-year stint at Chelsea to an end, and it is thought that Real Madrid is his preferred destination – and the Champions League holders are known to be interested in signing him too.

However, Madrid’s great rivals Barca have also entered the running and reports have claimed they have met with Hazard’s representatives.

But now Spanish radio station Onda Cero has claimed that Barca are willing to include Dembele in any deal. The French forward was only signed last summer in a deal that could reach £135 million, but he had a mixed season – not helped by injury – and has already been linked with a move away from the club. However, he was part of the France squad that lifted the World Cup earlier in the month.

It hasn’t been mentioned if the deal would be a straight swap or would be player-plus-cash, although the latter would seem more likely.

However, Chelsea do not want to sell one of their stars. New manager Maruzio Sarri has already said he wants to keep their biggest players and wants to meet them all to explain his strategy for the coming season. Hazard is currently on holiday having helped Belgium to third place at the World Cup in Russia.

Chelsea are also worried about losing goalkeeper Thibault Courtois to Real Madrid. He has also indicated he wants to leave, again with Madrid as a preferred destination. If they sell him to Madrid they are unlikely to let Hazard go there as well.
