Arsenal seek deal to land Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic on loan

Arsenal want to sign Inter Milan’s want-away winger Ivan Perisic on loan until the end of the season.

The Gunners only have enough budget to make loan signings, but Perisic is believed to be available.

Perisic, who was part of the Croatia side that finished runners-up at last summer’s World Cup, has handed in a transfer request at Inter.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking for attacking midfielders to boost competition for places and Perisic would fit the bill. The Gunners have also been linked with Barcelona squad players Denis Suarez and Malcom this month – although it has been reported that the Suarez deal is now off.

Manchester United have previously wanted to sign Perisic – in the past 2 transfer windows then-United boss Jose Mourinho tried to sign him but the club wouldn’t meet Inter’s valuation of the 29-year-old.

However, interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not indicated that United want to resurrect any deal.

This doesn’t leave the way entirely clear for Arsenal – other clubs around Europe are sure to want someone of Perisic’s quality if it is available.

Another potential pitfall is that Inter want to either sell Perisic or see him go out on a loan deal that will be made permanent in the summer – not just an option to buy, according to reports in Italy. Arsenal may well prefer the latter option.

Arsenal seek double Barcelona loan move for Denis Suarez and Malcom

Arsenal want to tie up loan deals for Barcelona stars Denis Suarez and Malcom before the transfer window shuts later this week.

The Gunners only have enough budget to make loan moves this month, manager Unai Emery has said. This could have changed if the club could have offloaded Mesut Ozil, but there haven’t been any takers – for a permanent or loan deal – with clubs put off by his £350,000-per week wages.

Winger Suarez has been on Emery’s radar for most of the month. The 25-year-old Spaniard is a peripheral player for Barcelona and boss Ernesto Valverde would let him move out on loan to get regular game time. Talks with Arsenal over a deal are ongoing, with a positive conclusion hoped for soon.

Meanwhile, during those talks, the Gunners have also enquired about taking Brazilian forward Malcom on loan to the Emirates Stadium as well.

Malcom moved to Barcelona from Bordeaux for £37.5 million last summer but has not been a hit at the Camp Nou this season. So far, he has made just 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring 2 goals. However, the Barcelona hierarchy still rate the 21-year-old highly and don’t want to let him leave permanently but would be open to letting him go out on loan to play more often.

Other clubs are thought to be interested in signing Malcom, including AC Milan and other clubs in Spain.

A move for both to Arsenal would seem to be a win-win; both players would likely be playing more often and it would provide more competition for places for Emery, who has yet to really put his stamp on the Gunners squad.

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll emerges as shock Tottenham Hotspur target

Injury-prone West Ham United frontman Andy Carroll could be a target for fellow London club Tottenham Hotspur as the latter seeks cover for the injured Harry Kane, according to reports.

Carroll, 30, is in the last 6 months of his West Ham contract, so could be available for as little as £2 million, The Sun reports.

Spurs need reinforcements up front as talisman striker Harry Kane has an ankle injury that will keep him out until March and Heung-Min Son is away at the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, stand-in forward Fernando Llorente – the only other recognised striker in the squad – scored an own goal and missed a sitter against Fulham yesterday [20 January].

Carroll would fit the bill as a target man for Spurs, but his injury record would be a concern. In 6½ seasons at West Ham, he has made just 93 appearances due to a succession of long- and short-term knocks.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino remains confident – in public at least – that the depth of his squad is such that they can deal with the increasing injury list, with Dele Alli being the latest man to make his way to the treatment room with a muscle injury suffered against Fulham.

However, with a gruelling fixture schedule coming up – Spurs are still in 4 competitions – Pochettino may act. They have also been linked with Barcelona misfit Malcom in recent days, with reports saying he could join on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

But whether West Ham would be willing to sell remains to be seen and will likely rest on whether Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic leaves. He has been linked with a £35 million move to China and is thought to want to leave. He was left out of West Ham’s matchday squad last weekend, fuelling speculation he could be on his way out of the London Stadium.

Title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur are looking to tie up a loan deal for Barcelona forward Malcom this month to provide much-needed cover up front, according to reports in Spain.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been forced to make a move after Harry Kane suffered an ankle injury that will keep him out until March, leaving the side very light on strikers, especially as Heung-Min Son is also absent as he is playing for South Korea in the Asian Cup currently.

Malcom has had an unhappy spell in Catalunya since his £38 million move from Bordeaux last summer. He hasn’t made the impact expected and has made just 8 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, the 21-year-old Brazilian remains highly rated, and it is thought a loan move could help to kick-start his career.

Spurs have reportedly made contact with Barca chiefs over an initial loan move for Malcom, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Pochettino had been interested in the forward last summer, but he plumped for Barcelona instead.

However, Spurs are not the only side interested in Malcom. Chinese Superleague side Guangzhou Evergrande have reportedly had a £44 million bid for the player rejected by Barcelona. It isn’t know if they plan to return with an improved offer.

Barcelona line up £50 million player-plus-cash deal for Chelsea winger Willian

Barcelona have resurrected their interest in Chelsea winger Willian and have put together a deal worth £50 million that includes Malcom going the other way, according to reports.

The Catalan club tried to sign Willian last summer and had three bids rejected by the Blues. However, manager Luis Enrique is still keen on the 30-year-old Brazilian and has come back to the table with another bid.

Barca signed Malcom from Bordeaux for £38 million last summer after they failed to land Willian, but the 21-year-old has failed to impress at the Camp Nou and they are now willing to offload him as part of the deal.

However, it is not known if Chelsea and manager Maurizio Sarri’s stance on Willian has changed since August. The player has been a regular starter for Chelsea this season, usually as part of a front three. But he is 30 and has less than two years left on his contract, so the offer could be tempting as they may not get so much for him by the time the summer comes round.

Chelsea have already sold Cesc Fabregas to Monaco, and could also lose the highly-rated teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi to Bayern Munich, so Sarri may not want to see another player go – even if it included Malcom coming in in his place.

Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang are also thought to be interested in signing Willian, but the player doesn’t want to move to China. However, it is thought he would be keen on a move to Barca, according to The Mirror.
