Italian giants Inter Milan have restarted talks to sign Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez on loan for the rest of the season.
Inter and United had been in talks over a deal earlier in the month but they has ground to a halt when it became clear The sides were some way apart on the terms of the deal.
However, Inter still want to do a deal. It is thought United want Inter to pay at least £5 million of Sanchez’ wages and have a £15 million option to buy at the end of it.
Sanchez has endured a rough time in Manchester since his move from Arsenal in January 2018. Injuries and a loss of form have meant he hasn’t got near to his best form at Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, while Sanchez doesn’t appear to be an integral part of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, letting him go would be a gamble. Having sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter already and not replaced him, if Sanchez went it would leave United with little back up in the forwards department – at least until January and the reopening of the transfer window – apart from promising, but untried, youngsters.
Sanchez is apparently keen to leave but doesn’t want to take a pay cut. However, Inter are said to be confident a deal can be done ahead of the European transfer window closing on September 2.
Italian giants Inter Milan believe they are close to agreeing a deal to sign Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian has fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who often left him on the bench. It is thought the club will let him go if they receive an acceptable offer.
While Lukaku has scored goals at United, his all-around play has been criticised.
New Inter manager Antonio Conte is looking for a striker to spearhead their Champions League campaign for next season, as well as trying to topple Juventus from their status as perennial Serie A champions, and believes Lukaku is the man to do it.
Conte tried to sign Lukaku while he was Chelsea manager, and his admiration for the Belgian international hasn’t diminished.
Manchester United will want to recoup most of not all of the £75 million they paid Everton for Lukaku in 2017, although there is speculation that an offer of £55 million could be enough to secure his services.
Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United nightmare could be coming to an end as Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus are both keen on signing the forward.
The Independent has reported that both clubs have met with Sanchez’s intermediaries about the potential for a deal.
United are keen to offload Sanchez and want to do a deal. However, both sides have indicated that they will only look at a deal if the Chilean drops his wage demands. It is believed that there could be some compromise on this.
Sanchez joined United from Arsenal in January 2018 but the move has been a disaster. Injuries and a loss of form have hit the 30-year-old and he has scored just 3 goals in 32 matches for the Reds. Nevertheless, he still remains a talent if he can recapture his best form.
North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a summer battle to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, according to reports.
Arsenal were linked to the Croatian international in January. While Perisic was open to a move, Arsenal – with a severely restricted transfer kitty – couldn’t muster a bid that would tempt Inter into selling.
Tottenham also signalled an interest in January but didn’t make any moves.
But both clubs are said to retain their interest and will seek to make full bids in the summer for 30-year-old Perisic, according to Italian newspaper the Corriere dello Sport.
Perisic, who was part of the Croatia side that finished as runners-up in last year’s World Cup, has the width that both sides want, and would strengthen both their squads.
It is thought that the player is open to a move and would like to play in the Premier League before his career ends.
However, whether Inter will be prepared to sell depends on whether they can sign a replacement or need to free up funds for other signings.
Inter have been linked with a move for Dutch forward Steven Bergwijn as well as making on-loan Monaco player Keita Balde’s move permanent. Both could cost in excess of £30 million, so Perisic, who would command a similar fee, could be sold to free up funds.
Champions League chasing sides Manchester United and Chelsea have enquired about the availability of Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic with the view to making a offer, according to reports.
The 30-year-old is under contract to Barcelona until 2021 and wants to open talks on an extension but the club have no intention of doing so at the moment, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
This will give heart to a number of clubs chasing the Croatian international. As well as Chelsea and Manchester United, Italian sides Juventus and Inter Milan and German side Bayern Munich are also interested.
However, Rakitic is an integral part of Ernesto Valverde‘s side, having made 34 appearances this season. Barcelona would appear reluctant at best to want to part with one of their stars.
That said, Barca signed Dutch star Frenkie de Jong in January – he’ll join the side the in the summer – so that would provide Rakitic with competition.
Nevertheless, Rakitic himself went on record last month saying he was happy at Barcelona and wants to stay long-term. His agent, Aturo Canales, also ruled out a move last week.
