Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly sent scouts to watch Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa with a view to making a bid for the player in the summer.

It is understood that a Manchester United representative was watching as Fiorentina drew 1-1 with AC Milan last weekend.

Chiesa, 22, has scored 7 goals and made 5 assists in 25 appearances for La Viola this season. The winger – son of 90s star Enrico – has also become a fixture in the Italian National side and has 17 caps to his name.

He can play anywhere across the front three but prefers to play on the right, a position Solskjaer is known to want to strengthen. At 22, Chiesa also fits into United’s plan to buy young players who can be developed.

However, Chiesa – who has scored 21 goals in 121 appearances for Fiorentina – will not come cheap. He is contracted to the Florence-based club until 2022 and a figure of £60 million has been touted.

Other clubs are also interested: perennial Italian champions Juventus are keeping tabs on him, and others around Europe will be watching should any club make a bid.

Manchester United’s seemingly never-ending search for a new central defender could be coming to an end as the club plots to land Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic in a swap deal involving Andreas Pereira, according to reports in Italy.

United have been linked with the 21-year-old Serbian international for some time, but it appears that interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to firm that interest up this month with a bid.

Milenkovic, who has 10 caps for Serbia, is rated by Fiorentina at £45 million, and United bosses are hoping that Pereira plus cash could be enough to tempt them into selling, according to La Nazione (via Calciomercato).

Fiorentina have been linked with a move for Pereira, who has failed to land a first-team place at United, as he is seen as a potential replacement for their former Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout, who is attracting interest from Napoli.

Arsenal line up January bid for Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is considering bidding for £15 million-rated Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes in January as he looks to bolster his forward line.

Moraes, 22, has impressed for the Belgian side this season, scoring 7 goals in 15 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League this season and 2 in 5 matches in the Champions League.

He has a long-term contract with Club Brugge up to 2023, but it is thought the club may be tempted to cash in on him in January.

Emery is looking for a striker to act as back-up to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. His other options are limited, with Danny Welbeck out for the season and only youngsters Eddie Nketiah and Tyreece John-Jules in the squad.

But Arsenal will have rivals for Moraes’ signature. Serie A side Fiorentina and Valencia of La Liga are both thought to be interested too.

Manchester United consider bid for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic

Fiorentina’s Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic is the latest name linked to Manchester United, with reports saying the Red Devils are sending scouts to watch him this weekend.

Milenkovic has been an integral part of the Fiorentina back line and has put in some impressive performances. The Daily Mail reports that scouts will watch him against Bologna this weekend, while United manager Jose Mourinho watched him in person when Serbia played neighbours Montenegro in the Nations League recently.

The player can also play at right-back and has already contributed two goals for Fiorentina this season. He joined Fiorentina last season from Partizan Belgrade in a £4.5 million deal.

United have been looking for a central defender since the summer. Moves for Spurs’ Toby Alderweireld and Leicester City man Harry Maguire were rebuffed, and since then the Old Trafford club has been linked with a series of defenders across Europe – most recently Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.

Milenkovic would not come cheap, however. Fiorentina bosses are said to want £50 million for the 21-year-old – he is under contract until 2022 – although he is reportedly on a relatively low wage.

In United’s favour is that Milenkovic is a friend and international team-mate of Nemanja Matic, who could help him to settle, should he make a move.

Fiorentina slap £62 million pricetag on Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United target Federico Chiesa

Italian side Fiorentina have put a £62 million pricetag on 20-year-old winger Federico Chiesa in a bid to deter clubs – said to include Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City – from trying to sign him.

Chiesa had a standout season for Fiorentina in 2017/18, which included breaking into the Italy squad. He played in 36 games in Serie A for La Viola, scoring 6 goals and contributing 7 assists.

His performances have alerted a range of top clubs; as well as those mentioned from the Premier League, Serie A sides Napoli and Inter Milan are also said to be interested.

Fiorentina had set a price of £44 million for Chiesa – son of former Italian striker Enrico – back in April, but have now increased it by another £18 million, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The club obviously want to keep hold of their star player – at least for another season – but if they were to sell they want top dollar. The pricetag may put off some clubs – Inter Milan, for instance, may not have the cash – but most of those linked to Chiesa will be able to stump up £62 million without any trouble.
