French champions Paris St-Germain are hoping to tie up a loan or permanent deal for Tottenham Hotspur left-back before the transfer window closes next week – but any deal hinges on the outcome of a UEFA enquiry.

Spurs are open to doing a deal with PSG, but the French club could face significant transfer sanctions if UEFA’s enquiry into alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules goes against them.

It could mean PSG are forced into selling one of their stars – probably Neymar or Kylian Mbappe – but the outcome of the case won’t come out until next week.

England international Rose has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs, with Ben Davies now the established first choice left-back so Spurs could be tempted to sell.

Rose may also be open to a move to ensure he stays in the reckoning for England.

A potential move for Rose to Bundesliga side Schalke fell through earlier in the summer.

Want-away Tottenham left-back Danny Rose is holding out for a loan move to Paris St-Germain, having already rejected another move, according to reports.

Rose, 28, has been told by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino that he can leave the club, and he has already said no to a loan move to Bundesliga side Schalke.

Instead, he is holding out for PSG, who have expressed an interest in him and are known to be looking for a left-back.

Rose, who has fallen behind Ben Davies in the pecking order at Spurs in the past season, has until the end of the month to secure a deal as the transfer window in most of Europe doesn’t close until the end of the month.

Rose is keen to keep his place in the England squad and knows that he needs regular football. Joining PSG would also mean he was playing Champions League football too.

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to revamp their defence this summer and are looking to bring in England defenders Ryan Bertrand and Alfie Mawson, in deals that could amount to £65 million.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking for deals as he expects two of his established stars, Toby Alderwierald and Danny Rose, to exit the club this summer.

Southampton left-back Bertrand could be up for sale if Southampton are relegated – they are in the bottom three currently – and he will want to remain in the Premier League to retain his place in the England squad.

He could cost up to £35 million, but that could still leave Spurs in profit if Rose departs for £50 million – as it is rumoured he could do.

Meanwhile Mawson could also experience a relegation at Swansea City. While the Swans have one of the leakiest defences in the Premier League this season, the 24-year-old has impressed with his performances, leading to him breaking into the England squad recently.

Mawson could cost £30 million and would be a direct replacement for Alderwiereld, who seems set to leave after talks over a new contract stalled.

It is thought Spurs will try and cash in on the Belgian, rather than let him leave for nothing in 2019. There would be no shortage of potential takers for him, with several leading clubs in England and Europe rumoured to be interested.

Manchester United target Spurs £50-million rated defender Danny Rose

Manchester United are considering bidding for Tottenham Hotspur’s England left-back Danny Rose, rated at £50 million, in the January transfer window.

Rose would seem to fit the bill in a problem position for United – Luke Shaw is making slow progress from injury and appears not to be trusted by manager Jose Mourinho, while Daley Blind and Ashley Young have played there, it is not a natural position for either.

However, tempting Spurs to sell could be difficult, especially if they have qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League and are still in the Premier League title race.

But, if Spurs should falter, United hope there may be a chance to sign Rose, especially if the player expresses a desire to leave – he has in the past said he would be open to a move to a club that offered bigger wages, something that Unite would do.

Even if that were to happen, a deal would still be some way away, given that Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy drives a notoriously hard bargain, and will not have forgotten United’s efforts to unsettle Eric Dier in the summer.

Rose himself, who has made more than 150 appearances for Spurs, has recently returned to training, having been out injured since January.

Potential exodus from Spurs this summer as three England stars could leave for Manchester clubs

Tottenham Hotspur could lose three of their key England players this summer as they are the subject of interest from Manchester clubs who could double their wages.

Spurs’ right-back Kyle Walker is thought likely to leave – The Sun reports he has been told he can go – and Manchester City are thought favourites to land the England international, although other clubs are said to be interested.

But the news gets worse for Spurs fans, as now midfield lynchpin Eric Dier has also apparently had his head turned by a Manchester club – in this case United. Jose Mourinho’s side are said to be planning a £40 million bid for Dier, and he is said to be interested in a move north.

In addition, left-back Danny Rose has also attracted the interest of both Manchester clubs, but a deal for him is less likely as he requires knee surgery this summer.

All three players earn about £65k a week at Spurs, but any move to Manchester could see them doubling that. Unsurprisingly, that is providing quite a pull. Both could potentially also offer Champions League football as well.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will not want to lose any of the three, but may be powerless to stop them, with famously tough deal-maker Daniel Levy unlikely to break Spurs’ wage structure.
