Premier League strugglers Everton are considering making a bid for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in January, according to reports.

Everton, currently 18th in the table with just 7 points from 8 matches, are looking to bolster their forward line and believe that the 23-year-old could be the answer.

Manchester United have already been linked with a £40 million move for Dembele and it is thought the Toffees would match that.

Dembele has scored 20 goals in 37 appearances for Lyon since his £19.7 million move from Celtic last year. He also has experience in the Premier League having played for Fulham.

Everton splashed out some £25 million for Juventus striker Moise Kean in the summer but he has yet to find his feet in England. While Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been scoring, he has little back-up.

Manchester United also have problems up front. After selling Romelu Lukaku and sending Alexis Sanchez out on loan to Inter Milan in the summer, the Red Devils are light up front. This has been exacerbated by Anthony Martial’s injury and Marcus Rashford’s indifferent form.

Lyon will want to hold onto one of their stars and the lure of Champions League football – something neither Everton nor Manchester United can offer – may be enough to keep him in France.

Manchester United target Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi – reports

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is eyeing up a €110 million (£98 million) deal for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to reports.

Ole Magazine has claimed that Mourinho wants to bring the Argentine striker to Old Trafford and would be prepared to pay his release clause.

Icardi, 25, scored 29 goals in 34 games for Inter last season, yet he still missed out on a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad.

Inter would be reluctant to sell Icardi, and there is no indication that the player wants to leave either. However, United would be sure to offer a bumper financial package.

Mourinho has been chasing a centre-back for some time and has no shortage of striking options so if – if – the deal were to happen, it could mean one of their current crop could leave – possibly Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez or Marcus Rashford.

Juventus target Anthony Martial for summer 2019 transfer

Italian champions Juventus are plotting to make a move for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial – but are prepared to wait to get him on a free transfer next summer.

France international Martial, 22, is in the final year of his current deal with United, and has yet to make a commitment over his future.

United bosses have offered Martial a new long-term deal and the club are hopeful of convincing him to put pen to paper. This is despite his largely bit-part role at Old Trafford in the past year and rumours of a fractious relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

Juventus will watch the negotiations carefully, mindful that from January the former Monaco man will be able to sign a pre-contract to join another club in the summer, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.

However, they are not the only club interested in signing him. In the summer, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were interested, but United made it clear they would not sell him to a Premier League rival. Bayern Munich are also said to be monitoring his situation.

Should Martial sign, then any potential suitor will have to pay a hefty transfer fee for him – certainly north of £50 million in the current inflated market.

AC Milan consider bid for Manchester United striker Anthony Martial

Italian side AC Milan are reportedly considering bidding for Manchester United striker Anthony Martial.

Milan are looking at bolstering their striking options and see the 22-year-Old Frenchman as an ideal candidate, according to reports in Italy.

Martial had been the subject of transfer speculation all summer – he is thought to be unhappy at his bit-part role in the first team – and had been expected to leave Old Trafford.

However, United bosses didn’t want to sell to a Premier League rival so interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur was rebuffed. So when the transfer window in England shut, he remained a United player.

However, the window in Italy is open until the end of the month so a bid could come in. But whether United bosses would entertain it is another matter, given that they would be unable to sign a replacement for Martial.

Manchester United lining up deal to swap Anthony Martial for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski

Manchester United are reporting planning to put a deal to German side Bayern Munich that would see striker Robert Lewandowski join the Red Devil’s and Anthony Martial move the other way.

United have been rumoured to be interested in the Polish international in the past, and are now reviving that interest, according to reports in The Sun.

Meanwhile relations between Martial and United manager Jose Mourinho have become increasingly strained, with a recent disagreement over Martial leaving the club’s US tour to attend the birth of his second child. The French striker was already unhappy at his increasingly bit-part role at United since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

However, a potential exit route has emerged in Munich, who are thought to want Martial as a replacement for Franck Ribery. United would be open to a deal as they don’t want to sell him to a Premier League rival – Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have both reportedly shown an interest in him.

Lewandowski has stated his desire to leave Bayern for a new challenge, but the club have thus far refused to grant his wish. However, they could be willing to let him move in a swap with Martial. Bayern were put off moving for Martial by United’s valuation of him – said to be £70 million –  but adding in Lewandowski could bring that price down.

An unnamed source was quoted by The Sun as saying that Bayern are keen on Martial and United want Lewandowski. However, Real Madrid are also keen on the Pole, and are being kept in the loop with developments.
