Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is attracting interest from Manchester United and AC Milan who are both lining up summer bids, according to reports.

Fernandes, 24, has been in sparkling form for Sporting this season, scoring 27 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions and providing 15 assists.

Portuguese news site A Bola has claimed that United representatives have already begun informal talks with Sporting over a transfer.

However, United will face strong competition for the Portugal international, with AC Milan thought to be safe interested. He spent several seasons in Serie A at Udinese and Sampdoria and could be tempted by a move back to Italy.

Sporting appear willing to do business with suitors – they have a history of selling if the price is right.

Fernandes has a release clause of £86 million, but interested clubs will be hoping to secure his signature for less than that.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, along with Italian champions Juventus, are set for a battle to sign AC Milan defender and captain Alessio Romagnoli this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Calciomercato have claimed that United have been watching the player this season, with a view to making a bid this summer.

Romagnoli, 24, has been central to Milan’s push for a Champions League place in Serie A this season. The side currently sit in 4th in the table.

United are well known to be in the market for a defender this summer and have been linked with most of the top stoppers in Europe in the past few months.

Chelsea are also looking for defenders as the side continues to rebuild in order to take on Manchester City and Liverpool.

Romagnoli would not come cheap. As a defender in the prime of his career, he would likely cost about £50 million.

However, Milan do not want to sell. Manager Genaro Gattuso has recently said that Romagnoli “doesn’t have a price”. The player himself is also happy at Milan and has apparently rejected moves away before and would be prepared to do so again.

Chelsea plan loan swap deal to bring in Gonzalo Higuain for Alvaro Morata

Chelsea are planning to bring in AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain on an initial loan deal this month, with Alvaro Morata moving the other way, according to reports.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is known to want to boost his attacking options this month and sees Uruguayan Higuain – who played under him at Napoli with some success – as the ideal man.

It appears Sarri has lost patience with Morata, who has failed to find his best form this season, scoring 5 goals in the Premier League and finding himself often on the bench in recent weeks with Olivier Giroud or Eden Hazard preferred as central striker.

Higuain is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus – he was shipped out to accommodate Cristiano Ronaldo – but it is believed a deal can be done with Juve to bring him to Stamford Bridge, according to The Sun.

Should the move be successful, it is thought there will be an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

The deal would also work for Morata. He has failed to live up to his £65 million pricetag since he moved to London in 2017 and it has been rumoured for some time that he wanted a move back to Italy.

AC Milan target Manchester United star Marcus Rashford and Liverpool’s Divock Origi

Italian side AC Milan are turning their attention to signing Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford after admitting defeat in their attempts to get Zlatan Ibrahimovic to return to the side on loan in January.

Milan had been in negotiations to bring Ibrahimovic in on loan during the MLS off-season, but the parties failed to agree terms.

As a result, manager Gennaro Gattuso is turning his attention elsewhere – and to Rashford, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

However, prizing him away from Old Trafford may be difficult. Rashford has been a regular starter under Jose Mourinho this season, making 18 appearances in all competitions and scoring 3 goals. It is hard to see United considering any bid for the 20-year-old.

With that in mind, Gazzetta added that another potential target could be Liverpool’s Belgian striker Divock Origi. However, Origi has recently forced his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans and so this may lessen the chances of him being sold or let out on loan in January.

AC Milan target Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas in January swoop

Champions League chasing AC Milan want to bolster their midfield by signing Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in January, according to reports in Italy.

Milan have been beset by injuries this season, so it is believed that Rossonieri manager Leonardo will look to bring in reinforcements.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato has reported that Milan have already been in contact with Fabregas’ representatives to sound them out about a potential move.

Fabregas, 31, has not been a regular starter for Chelsea this season and it has been rumoured he may look to move to get more regular first-team action.

Chelsea may also be open to selling as his contract expires at the end of the season. If they sell in January they won’t get market value for him but it would be better than losing him for nothing.

AC Milan are thought to also be looking at Zenit St Petersburg’s Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes and Stanislav Lobotka, who plays for Celta Vigo.

However, Fabregas is thought the most likely if the three targets to be signed.
