Spanish giants Real Madrid are considering making a player-plus-cash deal to try and tempt Manchester City into parting with Raheem Sterling, according to reports.
Sky Sports News has claimed that Real are lining up a bid of £70 million plus Gareth Bale for Sterling.
Madrid officials are understood to be monitoring Sterling’s performances for City and England over the next month before finalising their plans.
Los Blancos have a long-standing interest in Sterling – they met with his representatives in the summer but no bid was forthcoming – and president Florentino Perez is know to be a big fan of the player.
However, it is thought that City boss has little interest in signing 30-year-old Bale. He will also not want to part with a crucial part of his side who is entering the peak years of his career.
While Sterling is on record as saying he would like to play in La Liga at some point, it would likely take a bid of close to if not more than the £198 million record that Paris St-Germain paid Barcelona for Neymar.
