Spanish giants Real Madrid are planning to raid Manchester United and Chelsea for two of their biggest stars in deals that would be worth more than £100 million.
Los Blancos are known to want to freshen up their squad in the summer, and they could be looking to England to provide the star names the fans crave.
First up, Madrid could be set to revisit one of the longest-running – and least successful – transfer sagas of recent seasons by making another play for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. Madrid courted de Gea for the whole summer of 2015, only for the keeper to turn down the chance and stay at Old Trafford.
However, two years on, and Madrid are ready to make another move to bring de Gea back to his home country. But their success could hinge on whether United can secure Champions League football or not. Currently, Jose Mourinho’s side is just outside of the Champions League spots. They are also in the quarter-finals of the Europa League – and the winners of that will secure a spot in the Champions League.
Madrid are also eyeing Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard. While this has been previously reported, it is now said that Alvaro Morata might be included as a makeweight in the deal – taking the total value of it over £100 million – according to the Daily Mirror.
Chelsea are in the market for a striker, and manager Antonio Conte is known to rate Morata highly, so this – along with a large transfer fee – could tempt him. That said, the club are trying to get Hazard to sign an improved deal, said to be worth £300,000 per week.
