Perennial Ligue Un champions Paris St-Germain are considering making a bid to sign Liverpool utility man James Milner this summer, according to reports.
PSG are looking to strengthen their squad after falling yet again at the last 16 hurdle in the Champions League. While out-of-contract Ander Herrera expected to join, PSG have also discussed the possibility of moving for Milner, according to newspaper La Parisien.
Milner’s Reds deal runs to summer 2020. The 33-year-old has been a key member of the squad that finished 2nd in the Premier League and has reached the Champions League final. His versatility is a strength as he can play in midfield but also slot in a left- or right-back. He also takes penalties.
This may seem a left-field choice, but given his length of contract and age, he wouldn’t cost much. Milner isn’t injury prone and could certainly do a job for PSG for a couple of seasons.
However, PSG have not yet decided to bid – and Juergen Klopp would be reluctant to let him go in any case. There would also be plenty of interest in Milner from other Premier League clubs.
