Ligue Un champions Paris St-Germain are plotting a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen as a replacement for Neymar, according to reports.
It seems that Neymar is edging closer to a move back to Barcelona, although a deal is far from certain. It has been reported that the Catalan club has offered Ousmane Dembele on loan, Ivan Rakitic and £150 million for the Brazilian but that has been rejected by PSG’s bosses.
However, should the Neymar deal happen, PSG want to spend £90 million on Eriksen, Le Parisien has reported.
Eriksen has been a star for Spurs since he joined them six years ago, but this summer he has expressed a desire to find a new challenge. He has also consistently rejected any offer of a new deal at the North London club. Eriksen is out of contract next summer so could leave for nothing then, so Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy will be aware that this could be the final opportunity to cash in on the Dane.
Of course, if Spurs do sell, it will leave them without their most creative player and no opportunity to replace him until January, with the English transfer window having already closed.
With PSG stalling on any proposed move for Neymar, this is a transfer story that could go right to the wire – the French and Spanish transfer windows close on September 2.
