Manchester United are planning to make a cut-price bid for Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen in January, according to reports.

United were keen on signing him in the summer but a deal never materialised as it was clean that Eriksen was set on a move to Spain.

However, Eriksen’s preferred choice Real Madrid went for other options – such as Eden Hazard from Chelsea – and didn’t firm up their interest in him.

But it is thought that Eriksen was flattered by United’s interest so could be open to talks in the future.

Likewise, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains a fan of the Dane who could provide the creative spark that has often been missing from United recently.

United could make a cut-price offer in January as Eriksen would be entering the final six months of his contract with Spurs. Spurs could then sell or risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

The Sun says United could come back in with a lower bid than the £70 million they were offering in the summer.

Spurs, for their part, still want Eriksen to sign a new deal. He is a vital part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side and they will be loathed to lose him. However, if it becomes clear the 27-year-old wants to leave, they may decide to sell. But whether that would be to a Premier League rival remains to be seen.
