Manchester City face a battle to sign Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo with Barcelona ready to enter the race.
City have been looking to strengthen their options at right-back – despite having Kyle Walker and Danilo in the squad – and have earmarked Cancelo as their top target. Should Cancelo sign, then it is expected that Danilo would be sold.
The Portuguese international, 25, would cost about £60 million. He has been impressive in his two seasons in Turin, helping Juve to successive Scudettos and also was a part of the Portugal squad that won the Nations League recently.
However, while a deal is thought to be close, City could yet face competition for his signature, with Spanish champions Barcelona reportedly set to join the race for him. Barca are looking for upgrades to their squad as they seek to retain their La Liga title and make another assault on the Champions League trophy.
Juventus appear prepared to sell, and make a profit on the £35 million they paid for him.
