Inter Milan are set to launch another bid to sign Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modric in January.

Modric, who won the Golden Ball for best player at the World Cup in Russia, was also named FIFA Men’s Best Player 2018 recently for his performances for Madrid and Croatia.

Inter tried to sign Modric last summer, but Real we’re unwilling to do a deal – understandably as he is one of their most influential players, especially since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

It is thought Modric was keen on the move, and his wife and agent even offered him to Inter.

Now, Italian newspaper the Corriere dello Sport has claimed that Inter are planning to go back to Madrid and tempt them into selling.

However, any deal could hinge on Madrid’s success – or otherwise – in signing a marquee player to replace Ronaldo. Paris St-Germain stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are both on the club’s radar, although it would take a world record fee to sign either of them.

However, money is no object to Madrid and given their stuttering star to the season – they haven’t scored in 4 matches – their efforts are likely to be redoubled in the new year.
