La Liga champions Barcelona and Premier League runners-up Manchester United are both keen to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
Alcantara has been at Munich for 5 seasons – after being sold to them by Barca – but has indicated that he wants to move on this summer.
United have a long-standing interest in the Spanish midfielder – he rejected them to join Bayern in 2013 – and are hopeful he will come to Old Trafford this time.
However, the lure of a move to his former club may prove too great – and the player has indicated that this would be his preference, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
But Bayern want a firm offer for Alcantara before they start negotiating any potential move. He is not likely to come cheaper, either: the player is aged 27 so is at the peak of his career, therefore Bayern will likely want north of £50 million, even though he only has a year left on his current deal.
