Chelsea and Manchester United set to battle it out for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are ready for a battle to sign Lazio and Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, according to reports.

Milinkovic-Savic, 23, has emerged as one of the hottest midfield properties in Europe in the past couple of seasons, and enhanced his reputation at the World Cup with his performances for Serbia. Last season, he scored 12 goals in 35 Serie A matches for Lazio, as well as providing 4 assists.

Understandably, a host of top European clubs are interested in signing him. Real Madrid have been linked in the past, as have Manchester United. Chelsea are now believed to have joined the running for him as new manager Maurizio Sarri seeks to freshen up his squad, according to the Corriere dello Sport in Italy.

But a stumbling block has been Lazio’s valuation of the Serb, which has seen clubs baulk. Before the World Cup, they were asking for £85 million, and this could increase thanks to his performances in Russia. However, Lazio have indicated that they could consider a player-plus-cash deal, according to reports in Italy.

Whether clubs will be prepared to pay is another matter, but with the inflated prices in today’s transfer market, you would not rule it out.

Eden Hazard drops huge hint over his future

Chelsea playmaker has dropped a huge hint that his future could lie away from Stamford Bridge and that a transfer could be coming this summer.

The Belgian, speaking after his side secured third place at the World Cup, also said that he has a “preferred destination.”

Hazard said: “After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different.

“I can decide if I want to stay or go. Chelsea will make the final decision – if they want to let me go.”

Real Madrid are known to have a long-standing interest in Hazard and this may be stepped up after they sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus earlier in the season.

However, their fierce La Liga rivals Barcelona have also recently been linked with a bid for him.

But Chelsea would want £150 million for the 27-year-Old who is at the peak of his career and also has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City are also believed to be interested but that move would seem a non-starter as Chelsea wouldn’t want to sell to a Premier League rival and it is believed Hazard wants to move to Spain.

The news will come as a blow to new Blues manager Maurizio Sarri who was finally announced as manager earlier in the week. Where Hazard figures in his plans is not yet known.

Paul Pogba open to move to Barcelona – reports

Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba – and he is said to be open to such a move, according to reports from Spain.

The news has emerged after his agent, Mino Raiola, visited Barcelona’s training ground this week to discuss several of his clients this week.

Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo said that Pogba was also discussed at the meeting.

Barca have previously expressed an interest in Pogba, but that was back in 2015 when he was with Juventus. At the time, he elected to stay in Turin.

Pogba had an inconsistent season in 2017/18 as well as an apparent fractious relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

This has fuelled speculation that he could be looking for a route out of Manchester. At the same time, Barcelona are looking for midfield reinforcements after Andres Iniesta departed for Japan.

However, it is not known if any bid from Barca will be forthcoming. If – and it’s a big if – there is one, it would likely be have to be well in excess of £100 million to tempt United into selling.

Manchester United and Manchester City in battle for England star Harry Maguire

Manchester United and Manchester City look set for a battle to sign Leicester City and England star Harry Maguire this summer.

Maguire, one of the star’s of the England side that made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup, could be the subject of £50 million bids in the coming weeks.

City manager Pep Guardiola praised the centre-back for his performance against his side in last season’s EFL Cup.

Meanwhile United are known to be seeking defensive reinforcements his summer. They have been linked with want-away Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, but Maguire could be another option. Maguire, at 25, is also 4 years younger than his Belgian counterpart.

However, Leicester will be loathe to lose one of the lynchpins of their side, and their owners have played hardball before over proposed transfers – such as refusing to sell Jamie Vardy to Arsenal two years ago.

That said, £50 million would represent a significant profit on the £17 million they paid Hull City for him last summer.

There is talk of Leicester offering Maguire an improved deal that could net him £100,000 a week.

But the defender is ambitious and having cemented his place in the England side could want to continue his development by testing himself in the Champions League.

Real Madrid line up £150 million bid for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to replace Cristiano Ronaldo

Spanish giants Real Madrid are plotting to make a £150 million bid for Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard as they seek to replace the departed Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo left Madrid for Juventus earlier this week in a deal said to be worth £105 million, and Los Blancos bosses know they need a marquee signing to replace him to keep fans happy.

Hazard has been linked with Madrid for some time, and he has spoken recently of the club as being “special”. He has also stalled on signing an improved £300,000 a week contract at Stamford Bridge, although he still has two years to run on his current deal.

The Belgian captain has also challenged Chelsea’s bosses to show their ambition by making bold signings this summer before he would commit. The club has yet to do much in the transfer window yet, possibly hamstrung by the drawn-out departure of manager Antonio Conte. The club finished fifth in the Premier League last season, thereby missing out on Champions League qualification, which could also be a factor in his decision on whether or not to depart.

Chelsea will be loathe to lose one of their stars, but some will depend on Conte’s replacement – expected to be Maurizio Sarri – wants. Plus £150 million would give the club extensive buying power to find a replacement.

Real are now expected to make a formal bid for Hazard within days.
