Mesut Ozil likely to leave Arsenal in January – could he move to Manchester United?

It is looking increasingly likely that Arsenal will look to sell midfielder Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window, and he could go to Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Ozil is becoming an increasingly marginalized figure at the Emirates. He has recently lost his place in the starting 11, and talks over a new contract have stalled, with it appearing Arsenal’s top brass are unwilling to offer him the £350,000 he is said to want.

With that in mind, Arsenal will look to sell Ozil in the January transfer window, rather than risk losing him for nothing once his contract expires next summer.

One potential destination could be Manchester United. Jose Mourinho is known to be a fan of his, and the pair had a good working relationship when they were both at Real Madrid earlier in the decade.

A report in the Mirror says that Ozil is keen on the move and has told his teammates that he is off to United, although there is no source given for this, so must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Inter Milan have previously said they are interested in signing the German, especially if he is available for a cut price – with only 6 months left on his deal, Arsenal cannot expect to receive his full market value.

Prince William shows true colours on visit to West Ham

Prince William received a pair of West Ham United shirts for his children on a visit to the club, but he joked that they were the right colours but the wrong team”.

The Duke of Cambridge is renowned for being a fan of Championship side Aston Villa – who, like West Ham, play in claret and blue – and he reaffirmed this at the club.

Alongside the Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke visited West Ham’s London Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. While there, Hammers club captain Mark Noble offered the Duke two shirts – one each for Price George and Princess Charlotte – but joked on receiving them “Right colours, wrong team!”

“We know William is an Aston Villa fan – whether they (the shirts) will get put on or not, I don’t know,” said Noble. “It’s just a gesture from us to welcome them to the club.”

Chelsea draw up striker shortlist to replace Batshuayi in January

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is thought to be drawing up a shortlist of strikers who could replace Michy Batshuayi as Alvaro Morata’s understudy when the transfer window reopens in January.

Belgian forward Batshuayi has come in for criticism for his failure to lead the line – especially after Chelsea’s defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend – after gaining a run in the team thanks to Morata’s injury.

Conte does not have a vast range of striking options, having sold Dominic Solanke to Liverpool in the summer and loaned fellow England U-21 star Tammy Abraham to Swansea City for the season – with apparently no recall clause. Abraham has scored 4 goals in 8 games for the Swans.

It is now thought Conte is looking to bring in another striker in January to cover Morata, according to The Daily Telegraph. Names mentioned include Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy – who may be tempted for another shot at the Champions League and a reunion with former teammates N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater. Also thought to be in the frame are Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye and Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke – although he has been out of form this season and has failed to find the back of the net so far.
