Arsenal target Julian Draxler to replace Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal are trying to sign Paris St-Germain forward Julian Draxler – and the deal could pave the way for Alexis Sanchez to move to Manchester City.

Manchester City are preparing to make a £60 million plus bid for Sanchez, having had earlier bids rejected. Sanchez has been clear that he wants to leave, with Manchester, and a reunion with Pep Guardiola, his preferred destination.

Arsenal’s move for Draxler would be a direct replacement for Sanchez, and, you would think, would help to quell any supporter unrest at another star player being sold.

Draxler has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time and PSG could be open to selling as the look to balance their books, following the £200 million signing of Neymar and apparently imminent arrival of Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe on a season-long loan before buying him next summer.

Arsenal want a replacement for Sanchez, which is why Raheem Sterling was mooted as a possible makeweight in the deal earlier in the week. However, Guardiola is known to prefer a straight cash deal.
