Andre Villas-Boas has launched an audacious bid to lure Oscar from Chelsea to join Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG.
Villas-Boas, who had a spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, is plotting to bid £52 million or £60 million – depending on which source you believe – to bring the Brazilian to China in January.
Oscar has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte – he hasn’t started a game since September – so the Blues could be open to letting him go, especially for such a massive fee.
Fellow Brazilian Hulk is also at Shanghai and is currently the Chinese Super League’s record signing, although a deal for Oscar could eclipse that. Hulk is said to be on £320,000 a week there, so it is likely Oscar would also trouser something like that if he were to joining.
Oscar could also tap former team-mate Ramires about what like is like in China – he joined Jiangsu Suning in January for £25 million.
