Goal-shy Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace consider January loan move for Liverpool striker

The Premier League’s join lowest goal scorers, Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace, are considering a loan move for Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke in January.

Solanke, 21, has been a peripheral figure for the Reds this season and has yet to make an appearance for the first team.

Huddersfield have had problems with goal scoring since being promoted to the Premier League. However, manager David Wagner has publicly backed current strikers Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre.

Palace have also struggled for goals, not helped by Cristian Benteke being sidelined with a long-term injury.

West Ham United are also thought to be interested in Solanke, but Huddersfield could have the upper hand given Wagner’s links to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp himself has been coy on whether Solanke will be allowed to go out on loan in January. “We will see what happens,” he said. “But we want to help Dom so he can help us. That’s the target.”

Juventus and Inter Milan consider bidding for Tottenham Hotspur star Mousa Dembele

Italian giants are weighing up bidding for Tottenham Hotspur star Mousa Dembele, according to reports in Italy.

Dembele, 31, has been a key player for Spurs But is out of contract at the end of the season and has so far rejected every offer of a new deal.

Calciomercato reports that Dembele is waiting to see what offers come in for him from the Italian side before deciding his next move.

The Belgium international looks set to leave Spurs in the summer, and will go on a free transfer.

There is also reportedly interest in him from other clubs in Europe and China.

Spurs may try to sell him in January rather than let him go for nothing in the summer, but of course they wouldn’t get market value for him as clubs could easily wait until the summer.

Liverpool consider summer bid for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

Liverpool could come in for Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio again in 2019 after having a huge offer rejected for him last summer, according to reports.

The Reds tried to sign Asensio with a £160 million bid last summer, but Madrid rejected it, not wanting to lose another star having sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus for £99 million.

However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains a fan of the player and could come back in for him in the summer. With the Spanish international one of a number of Madrid’s established stars who have underperformed so far this season, they may be more willing to listen to bids as it is likely there will be an overhaul of the squad.

Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda has made the claim, saying Klopp is “in love” with the player.

However, there is no doubt that Liverpool won’t be the only club interested in the 22-year-old if Madrid were open to selling. Juventus for one are said to be planning a bid in January.

Asensio also wouldn’t come cheap. If Madrid rejected a £160 million bid last summer, it should be expected they would want more than that to part with him, even if he hasn’t hit top form this season. His age and that he is contracted to Madrid until 2023 will also serve to keep his fee high.

Inter Milan consider bid for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala

Inter Milan could be poised to end Manchester City misfit Eliaquim Mangala’s nightmare stay at the club with a cut-price deal, according to reports.

Mangala has yet to feature for City this season in any competition, so there has been speculation over his future. Now, according to Football Italia, Inter Milan have offered City £12 million for the France international.

Central defender Mangala is desperate for first-team football as he bids to kick-start his career again. He did go on loan to Everton last season, but made just two appearances before injury curtailed his time at Goodison Park.

Mangala joined City from Porto for £32 million in 2014, but never lived up to his price tag and was in and out of the team. He spent a season on loan at Valencia in 2016/17, making 30 La Liga appearances. He returned to City for the following season, but failed to make an impact, appearing just 9 times before being sent out on loan.

As a result, Inter believe they could get him for a cut-price as City look to cut their losses on a player who appears to have no future in Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, this could spark interest from other clubs around Europe, who recognise a player who played for France when at his best. Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with him in the past month or so, and others could follow suit.
