French champions Paris St-Germain are planning to make a shock move for Stoke City striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, according to reports.

PSG have identified the Cameroon striker, 29, as a replacement for Goncalo Guedes, who is moving to Valencia in a £36 million deal. The Mirror say he could cost up to £15 million.

Stoke are willing to sell Choupo-Moting, who is said to earn £60,000 per week – one of the biggest earners at the club – as they look to reduce their wage bill having been relegated from the Premier League.

Choupo-Moting joined Stoke last summer on a free from German side Schalke. While he scored 5 goals in the Premier League, he couldn’t stop the Potteries side from sliding into the Championship.

He hasn’t figured in the first team at Stoke this season under new manager Gary Rowett, which would indicate his days at the club are numbered.

Should the move happen, he will swap Peter Crouch and Saido Berahino for Neymar and Edinson Cavani. Quite a difference.

Brazilian legend Ronaldo is set to buy La Liga side Real Valladolid for euro30 million, according to reports in Spain.

Marca has reported that Ronaldo is in talks with the club and set to become the majority shareholder. If the deal goes through, he will become president of the club.

Valladolid have been up for sale for some time, and were nearly bought by Mexican businessman Ernesto Tinajero, but the deal collapsed.

Valladolid were promoted to La Liga from Segunda B via the play-offs last season, ending a spell of four seasons in the second tier.

Ronaldo is currently has a minority share in the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League, as well as co-owning sports marketing company 9INE, with his friend, mixed martial artist Anderson Silva.

Yaya Toure to sign deal to return to former club after agent teases fans

Ivory Coast legend Yaya Toure is to return to former club Olympiakos, having completed a medical in London – leading to his agent teasing that he might be about to join a side in the capital.

Toure, 35, has been without a club since he left Manchester City at the end of last season, and has been the subject of much speculation about his next move, once he made it clear he wanted to keep playing – and for a leading team.

Now it is being reported that he is returning to Greek side Olympiakos – where he played from 2005-6 – and could be earning up to £2 million per year after tax, according to The Mirror.

However, Toure’s agent, Dimitry Seluk, sparked much speculation yesterday when he tweeted that Toure had passed a medical in London. Rumours abounded of him being set to join various London clubs, including West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Chelsea and Fulham.

Seluk was clearly having fun, tweeting later that: “It’s not West Ham, 100%. Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him.” – clearly having a dig at the Hammers’ less-than-successful start to the season.

He also scotched rumours of Toure going to Selhurst Park: “It’s not Crystal Palace, 100%. Roy Hodgson said he doesn’t know when his players’ birthdays are. Can Yaya go there?” This being a reference to an infamous incident where the Ivorian was upset when Manchester City didn’t remember his birthday.

However, if Toure completes a deal to join Olympiakos, he won’t be eligible to play in the club’s Europa League meeting against Burnley later this week.

Paris St-Germain planning £100 million pre-transfer deadline bid for Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen

French champions Paris St-Germain are planning to make a £100 million bid for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, according to reports.

PSG have had a long-standing interest in Eriksen, who has been a crucial player for Spurs in recent seasons – he scored 14 goals and made 10 assists last time out – as well as Denmark.

He has two years left on his current contract but has yet to sign the improved deal Spurs have offered him, although talks are ongoing.

However, Spurs will be more than reluctant to sell. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is close to the player and knows his value to the side. Plus, as the English window has already shut, he wouldn’t be able to sign a replacement until January. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would also likely want more than £100 million for one of the club’s biggest assets.

PSG are not the only club interested in Eriksen. Real Madrid are thought to be interested in him, although a move would only be made if Luka Modric left the club, and the player has said he is staying at the Bernabeu.

If Eriksen were to go to PSG, it could mean that fringe players such as Julian Draxler and Angel de Maria could be offloaded as the club wouldn’t want to fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules.

PSG are also said to be still interested in a loan deal for Spurs left-back Danny Rose. It is thought more likely that this deal would happen as Rose isn’t a regular in the first team at the moment.
